A magnificent playground has appeared. It is a Golden Playroom where every single component—from everyday items to industrial goods—has been painted gold. Visitors can actually play there, while qilin and phoenixes watch over them, and werewolves and mermaids also make appearances. In the summer of 2015, we held a workshop titled “The Golden Games.”Furthermore, in conjunction with the 2018 and 2022 Triennials, the space has evolved to feature a vast array of objects—from nostalgic arcade machines and slot machines to Buddhist statues, furniture, Chinese figurines, neon signs, chandeliers, and Gagaku masks—as well as the Statue of Liberty, puppets from Vietnamese water theater, Greek sculptures, and paintings of Daikokuten and Western masterpieces. All of these elements are densely packed onto the ceilings, walls, and throughout the rooms. In 2023, a fishing pond, a spinning top arena, and capsule toy machines appeared there.
