About the artwork

An airship that reflects the sky over the town was floated above the Tokamachi JR station. The artist’s theme was “to bring flight to the forefront,” and this work is a continuation of a 2003 project done in the Tokamachi shopping center. In this project, the movie images taken of the Tokamachi sky were projected on the ship itself. As the airship floated in the night sky it reflected the passing of time and seasons, and changing weather. Although it is an installation that depends on good weather conditions, maintaining the exhibit was possible with the cooperation of the Tokamachi residents, and because of its installation in front of the station, many local residents were able to enjoy it.
