A library is installed in an “almost hidden” place in the middle of the mountain. It can only be reached by walking through the woods. The floor of this outdoor library is covered with different treatment from surroundings so that the area is well indicated. In the library, there are several chairs and a bench as well as a bookcase. All the furniture and the bookcase are made of waterproof materials. Lamps hanging from the trees allow reading in the nighttime. In the watertight bookcase there is a selection of German literature translated into Japanese language.Rehberger used pop-designed furniture for this forest library with a collection of German thought and literature, a body of work often likened to a deep forest, in order to make it accessible to everyone. His notion is to create work that is a doorway to difficult matters, a doorway anyone can use. The title of the work refers both to the name of a German philosopher and a kind of tree. A number of publishing companies and individuals cooperated generously in assembling the books to build this German collection. (*)
