This artwork is a fruit of collaboration of me and the students of my laboratory. Collaboration is considered as an important concept within the Watanabe Laboratory. After visiting Tokamachi in January, 2003, I proposed the installation of using optical fiber to my students. In response to it, several ideas were offered from the students. A chain of reactions from one side to another reached to the final concept. In terms of the luminescence of optical fibers and lighting boxes, students produced and managed with the advice from external specialists. This project was the result of such wide-ranged “collaboration”. What visitors, who wandered to this vacant space, have seen was the place of extremely delicate light. It was a feeble light but carried unforgettable strength as well.
