About the artwork

An installation piece of countless dressing pins all linked together with fishing line. On the gymnasium ceiling, a spider web, and on the floor, a field of dressing pins. The artist began living in the primary school three months before the Triennial to create this piece. People in the community began to bring her rice balls to eat, then volunteering to help, and the piece was completed with the support of almost 400 people. People would talk about the elderly women going to the school everyday and threading small needles. The title “enishi” refers to “bonds (with others)” because through this experience, the artist was able to experience the power of “enishi” beyond what she could have imagined.
