In the natural abundance of Echigo-Tsumari, severity blends with tenderness through the daily lives of its people. Residing for two weeks during the exhibition, the artist created new pieces daily, working from the perspective not of the traveler but of everyday existence in the area. Through flower arrangement and contact with the residents of neighboring houses, a modest connection was spun. Every day a new arrangement was delivered to a different house, pieced from household gardens as well as the surrounding hills and fields, inspired by the setting itself and the enjoyment of chance encounters with the flowers of the season.
