Tsumari has a proud history going back to the Mid-Jomon Era, when “flame-rimmed earthenware” were produced. After that, however, the history of pottery came to an end. Yoshida finally found clay that was suitable for pottery and weathered rock as he walked around the area. Using the clay and rocks, he has created numerous pieces of pottery using various techniques such as Sometsuke, Akae, and Mishima-Kohiki-Hakeme (a Korean technique). This was the first flash of a revival of Tsumari ware.
