A place where the fundamental life skills passed down in the Akiyama region are shared from generation to generation
“In the late Edo period, Suzuki Boku-shi wrote *Hokuetsu Setsu-fu* and *Akiyama Kikō*, which introduced life in snow-covered regions and the way of life of mountain people. These works were groundbreaking in that they documented and disseminated the cultural life outside the capital before the establishment of folklore studies.Even today, as if many people influenced by Makichi were continuing to write sequels to *Akiyama Kikō*, they are inspired to research and document the folk culture of Akiyama” (Author’s comment). Starting in 2022, an author conducting research in Akiyama-go will open a compilation room as “a place to discuss the sense of common land in Akiyama, bricolage-style living, and things that have not been spoken of until now.”
