China House was opened within a renovated abandoned house in 2016 and has since then been a place for artists and visitors to stay and create artworks through engaging with the local region and through community building. Wu Jian’an was selected for China House’s ETAT2018 installation. Drawings and calligraphy fill the entire house and all the walls in an open space, a collection of handwritten brush strokes by participants of workshops held in both Japan and China. By compiling hundreds of these individual artworks, the artist created his installation. A new story begins here when all these different contributions are gathered and spread across the entire house.
