From here, we can see two different rice paddy field seneries, peculiar to the Senda area with its relatively little flatland. One is “Segae,” a type of paddy field made by changing the flow of the Shibumi River by excavating tunnels by hand, and the other one is called the “Tanada,” a terrace paddy field made by utilizing the gentle slopes produced by landslides. The U-shapes and stair-shapes were traced and reproduced at one-tenth scale. Visitors can walk around and approach the small geographical feature reproduced as a model. They can then see the real world of the model, by touching the earth, watching the sky and listening to the sound of the river. Furthermore, visitors can walk for 20 minutes and see the same place from the opposite shore of the river. Watching from a distance is another approach to understanding the world. From the opposite side, visitors can see the original of the model.
