SHIMADA Tadayuki

Japan

The artist has been presenting sand sculptures for many years, exploring the existence of points, lines, planes, and dots. Around 1990, he shifted his material to aluminum and created works that could be likened to armour for dogs. This became the “Canines of Plinius” series. From these dogs, various species gradually emerged, and now the artist develops works under the title of “Animals of Plinius.” He creates his works based on the relationship between the current era and the imagery evoked by the animals.
