Artist unit by Matthew Tsang and Cordelia Tam.
Matthew’s works investigate the relationship between time, change, process and materiality. He works mainly with a variety of natural materials, including wood, ice and charcoal, and utilises processes such as burning, melting and freezing. His artworks are presented as installations, videos, photographs and sculptural objects. Since 2012, he has been a part-time lecturer at the Hong Kong Art School. Matthew’s works have been exhibited in Hong Kong and overseas and collected by private collectors. In 2018, he was awarded the Austronesian International Arts Award-Grand Prize and was invited to participate in “Harbour Art Sculpture Park”.
Cordelia explores the linkage between humans and nature in her works, using everyday materials, combined with themes of conformity, to inspire harmony in urban life. Her works are multidisciplinary and include video, installations, photography and other media. In recent years her works have been exhibited in Hong Kong and overseas. During her residency in Taiwan in 2018, she was awarded the 2018 Austronesian International Arts Award-Grand Prize. She held solo exhibitions “Go with the Flow” in 2021, and “So Close, Yet So Far” in 2022.
