Kinukawa Yasunori

Japan

Kinukawa creates stone lithograph works by cutting and polishing domestically sourced natural limestone. By depicting the landscapes of the collection sites and the flora and fauna that inhabit them, the artist repeats and amplifies the relationship between imagery and material within themselves. The two perspectives, one that the stones might have observed and the other encountered while seeking the stones, are layered onto the surface of the stones. The artist also visualises the limestone collection process through video works. Participated exhibitions include “KOMPAS” (Zebra Culture, Ghent, Belgium, 2023), “Flickering Creatures” (Kyoto Seika University Gallery Terra-S, 2021), and the “2nd International Biennale of Lithography” (Belgrade, Serbia, 2021).
