Born in Barcelona (Spain) in 1955, lives and works there. Plensa is known for his sculptures characterized by the presence of materials such as iron and bronze, the
beauty of the balance of forms in space, and the beauty of simplified forms such as spheres, tetrahedrons, and cylinders. He is also known for his use of lighting and
poetic aspects such as carving letters and numbers on the surface of his works. His works engraved with phrases of philosophers not only retain the footprints of human knowledge, but also evoke the sadness of the floating world of the dying and the vastness of the universe to which life is returning.
