Born in Osaka in 1982, the artist uses ceramics as a material to develop the concept of “SEED – the shape of beginnings” in installations and exhibition spaces. Starting this series in response to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, she questions the meaning of being an artist in unprecedented events and expresses positive wishes. The “seed,” often used to express the beginning of things, represents the beginning of life, phenomena, energy, and their forms of origin. She hopes to create connections with something in the viewer’s memory and evoke empathy and inspiration. Since her first solo exhibition in 2005, she has participated in solo and group exhibitions and art events based in Kansai.
