We are pleased to have delivered “Echigo-Tsumari Art Field 2021 Winter SNOWART” from 23 January to 14 March 2021. Thanks to the heavy snowfall for the first time in two years, we managed to bring back some of the programs which we couldn’t run last year due to the lack of snow and lots of people enjoyed the program under the beautiful winter sky.

While we were unable to run the official guided tour due to the state of emergency in relation to COVID-19, we could offer the Yukimigozen set meal which had been exclusive to the tour participants at Echigo-Matsudai Satoyama Shokudo and many people enjoyed the delicious meal.
“Echigo-Tsumari Snow Fireworks / Gift for Frozen Village 2021” was held on Saturday 6 March 2021, first time in two years. We had to cancel last year at the very last minutes even we were all prepared to go ahead. “Gift for Frozen Village” by Takahashi Kyota celebrated 10-year anniversary this year.
Although the event was only opened for residents of Niigata prefecture this year, approximately 35000 seeds of light were planted and brought one-night spring to the snow field. Photo by YANAGI Ayumi
We hope those who came enjoyed the winter of the snow country. While we could only open to those who live in Niigata prefecture this winter, we hope we can welcome people from different parts of Japan (and beyond) next year. In no time, ETAT2021 will be held this summer! The early bird ticket are on sale now – and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
