"Tunnel of Light" by Ma Yansong / MAD Architects
The tour begins with the visit to Kiyotsukyo Tunnel, which has been constantly popular since its opening with the work by Ma Yansong / MAD Architects. Formed by the 16 million years of the earth's history, Kiyotsukyo is one of the best three gorges in Japan. The 750m long tunnel with integrated artworks offers magnificent scenes of nature in four seasons.

Yukihisa Isobe Memorial Echigo-tsumari Kiyotsu Soko Museum of Art [SoKo]
A special exhibition featuring Isobe Yukihisa who has been presenting his works at ETAT since the first iteration in 2000 and other artists is held in the space of the old closed Kiyotsukyo Primary School. In addition to the permanent collection contributed by Isobe himself, new work is installed in the swimming pool for this year.

11:45 Transformation of the dump site of industry waste into a beautiful park
"POTEMKIN" by Architectural Office Casagrande & Rintala
The site filled with illegal dumping including tyres and parts of diggers were transformed into a beautiful park. The artist made swings out of the tyres and installed an object with some part of the digger. The park made of industrial materials such as glass, stones, and steals quietly appears in the countryside landscape.

Hong Kong House / Echigo-Tsumari Kamigo Clove Theatre
Hong Kong House was established as a platform offering residency, workshop, and exhibition space for artists for cultural exchange between Echigo-Tsumari and Hong Kong. The work was created through cooperation between local people and Hong Kong people for this summer. Echigo-Tsumari Kamigo Clove Theatre occupies the renovated closed junior school and is the ETAT's hub facility for performing arts and currently presents the artwork opened to the public last year.

NUNAGAWA Campus
Old Nunagawa Primary School stands as if it is a local school for people of diverse backgrounds. In addition to artworks by artists of Japan and beyond occupying the school building, it is also the home of FC Echigo-Tsumari, a female football team born as a part of ETAT.

Tour participants can enjoy an exclusive lunch using lots of local ingredients which menu is created in consultation with chef Yonezawa Fumio at TSUMARI KITCHEN.

Matsudai Nohbutai Field Museum
Matsudai Nohbutai is one of the ETAT hub facilities in which the entire building and rooms themselves are artworks. Re-opened in the summer of 2021 after renovation, you can enjoy art as you feel and appreciate the surrounding nature and local lifestyle.

"Museum of Picture Book Art" by Tashima Seizo
The closed school in a village has been transformed into a museum featuring the picture book story of the last three students of the school and a teacher by picture book artist, Tashima Seizo. A resident goat family and a ghost who eats memories of the school welcome visitors.
